Designer Drafter - Ag Facilities - MN #1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota

 
Under the general direction of the Vice President the primary responsibilities of the Drafter/Designerare to review and comprehend specifications, then transpose that information  and design requirements into a Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and  Layout Drawings (GA's) for construction or proposals.   The Designer Drafter will be managing inflow and outflow of drawings received and shipped on Construction Projects.
 
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
*           Understand the strategy, vision and expansion model of the organization including a thorough understanding of business; be aware of and help to enforce organizational policies and best practice procedures.
 
*           Consistently support the general direction, initiatives and specific final decision of the Management Team in all aspects of the business; use influence sensitively to garner cooperation of management and co-workers.
 
*           Generate goodwill for the organization and its management among staff, clients, suppliers, referral sources, regulatory bodies, the general community and others pertinent to the business; demonstrate a strong commitment to client service and service excellence.
 
*           Review and comprehend specifications, then transpose that information and design requirements into a Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Layout Drawings (GA's) for construction or proposals.
 
*           Work with Project Managers to portray required information on drawings; approve equipment approval drawings thru construction stages of project-submittals to vendors, suppliers, and engineering firms.
 
*           Update Drawing Logs with current drawing information for all parties working on the project; understand and always keep construction in mind when laying out a facility, both costs and constructability.
 
*           Assist in the scope of work "kick-off" meeting on awarded projects to ensure understanding of the scope of work by all parties; research and suggest layouts to maximize all aspects of the specifications and efficiency for the facility.
 
*           Review and redline all work prior to having Vice President review.  Items to look for are dimensions, labels, page layout, line weights, etc.
 
*           Demonstrate continuous effort to improve efficiency of projects, research new technology and always be looking for areas that can increase efficiency of projects.
 
*           Maintain up-to-date flat files as well as the library of drafting/drawing standards.
 
*           Organize all electronic drawings during the project.
 
*           Promote growth, education, safety and expanding the talents of current workforce.
 
*           Display a willingness to work the time necessary to accomplish a task or project.
 
*           Work daily and effectively to balance stress of multiple projects, conflicting priorities, substantial workload, and environmental ambiguity and changing plans through self-management and productive communication with the Management Team regarding needs for support.
 
*           Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.
 
 
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE SPECIFICATIONS:
 
*           Two years college education in drafting and design, preferably in the agricultural industry and at least two years working in the industry.
*           Must know Auto CAD and be able to develop Process Flow Diagrams and Layout Drawings.
*           Must have experience in one or more of the following industries:
o          Renewable (Ethanol, Biodiesel, Cellulosic, Wind, Anaerobic Digestion, Fractionization, Solid Waste, etc.)
o          Agricultural (Feedmills, Soybean, Grain Elevators, Grain Storage, Fertilizer, Livestock, Seed, Flour, Sugar Beets, etc.)
o          Industrial (Bakery, Cement, Food/Beverage, Pneumatics, Solid Waste, Mining, Plastics, Coal, Barge Loading/Unloading, Malting, Rendering, Ingredient Mfg, Paper Mill, Power Plants, Pre-Engineered Buildings, etc.)
*           Must possess and maintain a current driver's license and proof of insurance.
 
 
 
Bottom line requirements we need notes on with candidate submittal:
 
1.  Experience in laying out Ag facilities - preferably shuttle terminals and grain facilities.
2.  Two years college education in drafting and design, preferably in the agricultural industry and at least two years working in the industry.
3.  Experience with Revit.
4.  Ability to develop Process Flow Diagrams and Layout Drawings.
 
5.  Experience in one or more of the following industries:
o          Renewable (Ethanol, Biodiesel, Cellulosic, Wind, Anaerobic Digestion, Fractionization, Solid Waste, etc.)
o          Agricultural (Feedmills, Soybean, Grain Elevators, Grain Storage, Fertilizer, Livestock, Seed, Flour, Sugar Beets, etc.)
o          Industrial (Bakery, Cement, Food/Beverage, Pneumatics, Solid Waste, Mining, Plastics, Coal, Barge Loading/Unloading, Malting, Rendering, Ingredient Mfg, Paper Mill, Power Plants, Pre-Engineered Buildings, etc.)
