ADAPT ACTIVITIES TO YOUR PATIENT'S LEVEL & MAKE IT FUN!!
HERE ARE A FEW IDEAS FOR STROKE, ARTHRITIS, PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY:
Stack Cones - helps hand & eye coordination & color recognition. Strengthen arms by lifting and reaching.
Stress/tension balls are flexible and can be used to strengthen hands for stroke patients or arthritis pain.
Take cones from one pile and re-stack in another pile. Repeat this action.
Will help weak hands and arms to rebuild their strength and balance with lifting and repetition of movement. Provides great therapy.
Turn cones upside down and stack using the small end
Use small rings to pick up the top of a cone and move it to another location.
Craft Idea: Draw on cones with colored chalk and wash off with water, then rewrite.
For Autism: Use Cones all of one color to see which color your patient responds to best. See if they can pick this color out if put in a group of different colors.
Patients that need to develop their lung capacity:
Use Cones as Bubble Blower - put large end in small dish of bubbles and blow through small end.
Use as Horn to make music - in recreational therapy
